What is HDMI?
Sep 07, 2026
HDMI features a small size, high transmission rate, high transmission bandwidth, good compatibility, and the ability to stably and synchronously transmit uncompressed audio and video signals. Compared to traditional fully analog interfaces, it significantly enhances the convenience of equipment wiring. It also provides some unique intelligent functions specific to HDMI, such as Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and Extended Display Identification Data (EDID).
Since the release of version 1.0 in 2002, with the advancement of high-speed interface transmission technology and the improvement of integrated circuit manufacturing processes, it has been updated to the latest version 2.1. This version has a bandwidth of 48 Gbps and can meet the requirements of ultra-high-definition display with a resolution of 7680×4320 at 60Hz.
As a connection hub, it can connect ultra-high-definition displays with a wide range of terminals such as consumer electronics, personal computers, mobile devices, automobiles and commercial AV equipment, covering various usage scenarios.
